Vocabulary development is an important part of helping children become fluent readers. The ability to readily recognize word has a strong correlation to the ability to comprehend written materials. Conversely, Children who struggle with word recognition while reading usually struggle with comprehension.

These cards help children:
• become familiar with high-frequency words
• understanding the meanings of synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms
• recognize parts used to build words
The cards develop vocabulary in this order:
Card 1 - Identifying the synonms of adjectives.
Card 2 - Identifying the synonms of nouns.
Card 3 - Identifying the antonyms of adjectives.
Card 4 - Identifying the antonyms of nouns.
Card 5 - Matching homonyms correctly.
Card 6 - Using homonyms correctly.
Card 7 - Identifying compound words.
Card 8 - Forming compound words.
Card 9 - Using the prefix un-.
Card 10 - Meanings of the prefixes uni-, bi-, tri-, and centi-.
Card 11 - Using the suffixes -er and -or.
Card 12 - Using the suffix -y.
