Vocabulary development is an important part of helping children become fluent readers. The ability to readily recognize words has a strong correlation to the ability to comprehend written materials. Conversely, children who struggle with word recognition while reading usually struggle with comprehension.
Includes 144 challenges: 12 cards with 12 challenges on each cards. Each card is SELF-CORRECTING.
These cards help children:
• practice letter-sound correspondence
• blend sounds to read words
• become familiar with high-frequency words
The cards develop vocabulary in this order:
Card 1 - Match phrases to pictures.
Card 2 - Match sentences to pictures.
Card 3 - Match verbs with -ing to pictures.
Card 4 - Match sentences to pictures.
Card 5 - Complete sentences with the missing word.
Card 6 - Choose the word that belongs with a set of words.
Card 7 - identify the synonym of a given word.
Card 8 - Identify the contraction formed by two given words.
Card 9 - Match school and play words to descriptions.
Card 10 - Match community and transportation words to descriptions.
Card 11 - Match health and body parts words to descriptions.
Card 12 - Complete sentences about dinosaurs and space with the missing word.
